WELCOME

Hey. I'm Debbie Wiles. I'm a working writer. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. Professional bio at the "about" link, above. Bio for young readers at the Comfort Snowberger link. Here is how and what I teach, and my speaking calendar. On the blog you'll find a mix of things including more about the books I've written.

After living in the Washington, D.C. area (Frederick, MD) for 25 years, where I raised a family, I moved to Atlanta eight years ago, and now live in a house with deep purple shutters, chartreuse trim, and a red door. I married musician/composer Jim Pearce five years ago. You can hear Jim profiled by Susan Stamberg at NPR right here. I've spent the past ten years traveling and teaching and speaking, while writing the next books. I'm currently finishing book two of "The Sixties Trilogy," three documentary novels of the 1960s. Book one, Countdown, was published by Scholastic Press in 2010.
Talking with Michele Norris of All Things Considered at NPR, about writing with and for young people.

Visiting Spring Ridge Elementary School (YouTube).

Teaching Personal Narrative Writing is here and here.

You can follow me on Pinterest and stay current visually with book progress and resources, here.

You can get in touch on twitter, here.

BOOK LISTS

1. The books I've written.
2. The books that have shaped my writing and my life.
3. Research books, music, and dvds I've used in writing my books that might be useful to you if you're writing in the same vein or just want to read further.
